It is the raw material of bifunctional alkylating agent. White to off-white crystalline powder, hygroscopic, easily soluble in water, mp 108-111℃, dark, sealed and stored at low temperature. Its free base can be cyclized in vivo to generate highly active ions, which cross-link with DNA guanine N site to block replication.
